Minelab SE rechargeable battery pack

Old Sox

New member
I noticed my battery meter was more than half used the other day with only about two hours in the hunt. It was about 18 degrees and I wasnt using headphones. I would think that it would at least last for a half day hunt. Is there a performance drop with a less than full charge??

I noticed this also on the first two hunts I took it on. The meter would drop about a quarter then wouldnt move for a good while. I hope this pack aint defective.

Anyone else have similar results??

Thanks

Hi Old Sox, you should charge the battery for 18 hours or more before you initially use the battery ...

If you did do this, and are still not getting over a full day you might have a problem.

Very cold batteries can give poor outputs too!

You won't harm the batteries if you charge them over the 18 hours,
maybe if you give the battery a real good charge, it will pick up performance...

I think that is about normal with all the Explorers. Just off the charger they will show full power, but after a hour or so you will see them down a little until they get to about 1/4 down, then it will stay for a while and then drop again. Now I have also seen a set charged up, but the Explorer wasn't used for 2 days and it showed down a little when first turned on, but no problem.
When the pack is brand new you may notice not getting the hours you should, but after it has been charged a few times it will get better each time out, it is called waking up the battery. What I do with those I sell I like to use my Sun Ray SR12 charger and charge and discharge them 2 or 3 times so they will hold a good charge right away.

Thanks fellas, I was hoping it was normal. I did initially charge the battery for at least 24 hrs as I was scared of screwin something up. I am gonna take it out and see if I can run it down when it warms up around here.
