Minelab Sovereign XS-2 Pro NICE !

Great condition.......nothing broken or missing. All knobs function perfectly, coil has coil cover, Meter is brand new.

This detector uses 8AA batteries (2 x 4 battery holders included). I would consider this a high end detector as far as ability to find deep targets and identify if they are ferrous or non ferrous. The detector puts out multi tones which helps you identify type of metal is being targeted (low tone for iron, medium tone for medium conductors like gold, nickels and rings, and high tone for silver coins and jewelry. Most metal detectors utilize 1 or 2 frequencies in their technology, but Minelab Sovereigns utilize 17 frequencies operating simultaneously, covering the whole band of metal targets, so one type of metal is not detected weaker than another. This detector is equipped with a straight shaft with the detector mounted under the armcuff for optimum balance. This unit also has a momentary push button switch on the end of the grip handle so you can switch from all metal detecting to descrimination mode. This greatly helps you identify the type of metal is being detected. More detailed instructions will be included. The coil is a BBS 800 coil with a coil cover installed. Also included is a ID meter (Ron's meter) which is calibrated from 1 to 180. When a target is located, the meter tells you if the metal is ferrous (iron) or non ferrous (silver), instructions also included.

This detector excels for beach hunting and finds DEEP targets such as coins and jewelry.
This is a more advanced machine and I would not recommend it for a person just starting metal detecting.

Included with the detector is a owners manual (copy), a CD instruction disc, and a all leather pouch (quality!) which you can use to hip mount the detector if you so desire.

Ships to lower 48 only. No overseas.
$430.00 shipped. Pay Pal only

I've been looking at the Sovereign series. Whats the difference between the models; GT, Elite, XS? Looks like the GT is the only one still in current production. Thanks, -Mike

Mike,

The GT was discontinued Dec 2012.

Mike.......thanks for the inquiry........The Minelab Sovereign evolved starting with the XS and then XS-2 pro and XS-2a Pro. Basically all same machine except for minor added functions. The GT was then added but discontinued in 2012. Technology was very good and dependable and Minelab incorporated basically the same electronics in the Excaliber line for in-water use.

So how old is this MD & why are you selling it? Seems like you did some really nice mods to it. Are you just changing or moving to a better model?
Had to ask- always liked Sovereigns but -new-they were always a bit above what I could afford.

Hey guys thanks for the info. So whats up with the Elite model? Is it supposed to be the top-of-the line model, or would that be the GT? Sorry for posting this inquiry on your for sale thread, but I may be interested in purchasing after I do my research. I've heard good things about depth while relic hunting with the Sovereigns. Since they work well on the beach, is it safe to assume they will work well in hot ground also, like highly mineralized Northern VA red soil?

this is a beautiful setup on a very good versatile machine. well worth the price. it however isn't really a beginner machine. a dedicated beginner could master it and love it.

The Elite was the model before the GT. The XS and the XS2 are some of the better models along with the GT which is the best of them all as I have used them all and find most those that got to know the Sovereigns really do love them with the XS and the XS2 models more sought after after the GT which to me is better, but a little harder to learn for a beginner.
The XS was made in the middle 90s, the XS2 in 1997 until I believe 1999 them came out with the XS2a for a few years, then the Elite only for a couple of years, then came the GT which those that got to really know the Sovereigns found it to be the best.

The XS model was the second Sovereign. The first one said" the sovereign" on the side of the control box and like the GT had a iron mask disable toggle.
GT and Elite have a better battery system than the other models(nimh).
