Which would be the better of the 2? I have the 250 an it does a great job. I have a chance to get a x50. Any one with experience with the X50? Depth an pinpointing an such. HH

If you already have a 250, why duplicate what you have? Buy the X-50 and see how much you've been missing. If you didn't have the 250, I'd still suggest the X-50. Deeper detection, better target separation, very accurate pinpoint and more notch segments for more accurate TID. Not to mention 7 available coils in Mid and High frequency. JMHO HH Randy

I had the x-terra 50 and it was a good machine. It found coins in yards left by several other detectors. I liked it so much i now have an x-terra 70. I never have owned a 250 , but if you already have one try out the 50.

Hi ric,

I have Ace 250 and an Xterra70.
Both are good machines
but IMHO the Xterra wins because....
of a numbered TID screen which can more accuratey id whats in the ground.
better ground balance, volume, threshold, noise cancel features.
You can also change the frequency by changing the coil.
good luck

It's purely a matter of personal preference. I've had an X-Terra 30 since they came out and replaced it with an X-Terra 70 about 15 months back. I've had an Ace for around 3 years. I like them both. The big thing I like on the X-Terra side over the Ace is the tones. The X-Terra's have one of the nicer sounding tones on a light weight detector that I've come across. I've always been irritated by the Ace's bombastic sound, that's why I old my first one, but replaced it 6 months later.
Personally, I do find that I can feel around a target better with the Ace than the X-Terra, when in pinpoint. The 70/705 X-Terra does have the prospecting mode that can with certain coils allow you to feel around targets for better feed back. Once mastered, the Ace is a more accurate pinpointing machine.
That said, I do enjoy hunting with the X-Terra as it's numeric display is easier on the eye and it's audio is far easier on the ear, almost eliminating ear fatigue.
Like I said at the start of this post; it comes down to what you enjoy in a detector. The performance is similar enough that if one detector hears a target, so will the other. If you want to enjoy a change, then buy the X-Terra. ( I actually found the X-Terra to be the easiest to learn detector that I've used.)

Ok folks traded one of the Aces for the X50. The 50 was a breeze to ground balance. Got me a cheat sheet from the faq section for the TDI numbers. So i guess im ready to give it a twirl. So far i really like what i see. Any advice? Thanks an HH

Also the X-50 has V-Flex to combat EMI (interference) better than the Ace 250. But the Ace 250 has a 10x14" DD Excelerator coil for only about $150 available from Kellyco that I have heard helps the machine alot.
