Minelab X-Terra 70

Hey There Fellow Seekers!

The more I hunt with the Minelab X-Terra 70, the more I like it! It's easy to pin-point and the meter is dead on. If it says '30', it's a penny. If it says '36', it a dime and nickles are always a '12'. It's light and easy to swing and it goes deep. I picked out a tiny, tiny signal this morning @ '36' and at 10" out came a dime. Without a doubt, it's the best metal detector I've ever owned and, if I ever upgrade, it will be to a 'New' Minelab X-Terra 705. I spent approximately three days reading the manual as well as watching the video that came with the detector and the video's on the Internet but everything fell into place. If I can understand this material @ 65 years of age, anyone can! It's that easy. So if you're thinking of up grading, check out the MInelab X-Terra 70 or 705. On the other hand, if you looking for your first detector, don't hesitate to seriously consider the Minelab X-Terra 305 or 505. You'll be glad you did!

Hello 7CentsWorth,

In this world of 'Instant Gratification', those that purchased the Minelab X-Terra 70 and have problems trying to wrap their minds around it's programs simply didn't spend enough time with the manual, watch the video that accompanies the detector, watch the multitude of video's available on the Internet and finally test the X-Terra 70 before heading out into the field. I am also totally convinced that anyone can learn this detector if they'll just do their homework. It's not that hard. Really! There's a lot of used 70's out there. However if you can afford the X-Terra 705, I'd go that route.

I use a '70' on the Australian goldfields where the ground is highly mineralised. I have had some success and have found that whilst the 70 does not get anywhere near the depth of the PI (SD, GPX) technology detectors it is excellent for finding small pieces of gold that have been missed by the bigger detectors.

I know back when I got mine, I read the manual, watched the video, and just went out and started detecting. It is so simple to use that anyone with any detecting experience could use it no problem. The first day I used it was the best detecting day I ever had. here is what I found the first day I used it!
multible silver, indian, buffalo, wheats etc.....man what a day
