I've owned them all and that's not a joke. I've given every one a fair chance to fall on it's own face and most of them do when it comes to truly deep coins. The Explorer 2 will out perform them all. Period. It will get 10 inch deep coins according to many posts here. My personal best is just over 7 inches in KY soil and that beats all the others I've tried. I think sometime this year I will learn how to get another inch or 2 out of it with different coils. Don't even think about. Forget all the diplomacy or offending someone and just get yourself the current best.

Fisher makes a great detector with exceptional depth so it is really up to you as to why you should purchase any other detector. No matter which forum you ask that question you will be told by most that the detector featured on that forum is the best.
I also used just about all the detectors in over 40 years of loving to coin and relic hunt. I use an Explorer not because it has more depth than a backhoe but because it has discrimination at depth no matter if it is with tones, null discrimination, or visual. Another reason is the two axis display and digital reading for both ferrous and conductivity. Of great importance is that it is a sub-class of a PI detector and can reject soil minerals better than any other machine I have used. When all this is pulled together I find more good finds, can detect in soils that just about killed many of the others I tried, and have not found anything that does as good in heavy trash with discrimination and again at depth. Most major manufactures can make a good discriminator or a good VLF with depth but what is different is a good discrimination at depth with solid soil mineral rejection. That has been what they have been trying to do for a good 30 years. The Explorer is further down the road than others I have used and from what I see is going to be even further ahead in the future.
I like a Fisher, Whites, and several others but the Explorer has worked much better for me for the reasons listed. Is it the right machine for you? I have no idea so that one is up to you.
HH, Cody

explorer 1 or 2 . take your time and learn the machine and youll love it the best part and most im portant is if youve never owned a detector then you cant compare the two and will make the learing curve that much easier, it reminds me of basic traing the di asked who knows how to shoot and all i remember is all the guys raising there hands like they were proud and then the di said well teach you later if your new the explorer will be easier to learn that way you cant compare it to the xlt,dfx etc. get the explorer and learn the machine its great. good luck

I ASKED A FRIEND WHO HAS USED MANY DETECTORS ANS HE DIRECTED ME TO MINELAB AND I`M GLAD HE DID. I USED TO HUNT THE BEACHES OF CA. I USED A "SOVERIGN SX2APRO" IT WENT DEEP AND DEEPER WITH A WOT COIL.DEEPER THAN A DFX. IT PAID FOR ITSELF IN A YEAR TWICE, ONCE IN GOLD JEWELRY AND ONCE IN CLAD COINS , NO PENNIES. I LIVE IN AZ NOW AND NEED TO BE MORE PICKY NOW WHAT I DID BECAUSE THE GROUND IS HARD. THE EXP ll IS DOING WELL. ANOTHER FRIEND USES BOTH AND SAYS THEEX ll HAS BETTER AJUSTABILITY. I`M CONVINCED WITH MINELAB BUT OTHER BRANDS ARE GOOD TOO, IT JUST DEPENDS HOW DEEP YOU WANT TO GO!!!!!!

I Also Own A Coinstrike With A 10"Coil.It Will Get Good Depth. But The Explorer11 Has The WOT 15"coil Which Will Get More Depth.
