mineralizated soil ....sensitivity at 32 and hunt without a threshold

Has anyone tried to hunt in this setting when hunting in mineralizated soil and/or iron ....sensitivity manual at 32 and hunt without a threshold....Then just dig only good repeatable signals ? How did it work out for you ?
Thanks Dennis 2

I have hunted with the Explorer without a threshold that can be heard and there is a slight loss of sensitivity if you adjust the threshold one click below what you can hear. One thing to note is that there is still a threshold but it is now below what the user can hear. This is what I mean. If I set the threshold to one click below sound I can switch headphones to a better pair and then there is a threshold. If you look at the threshold indicator on the display you will notice there is a threshold below what you hear with your headphones or with the speaker. If we have a little less sensitivity but there is an area where we think there are good target then why not set the threshold to silent if that enables the user to hunt the site? The next time you are out hunting and you get an ultra deep hit then adjust the threshold to silent as you suggest and see it you can still detect the target. That was the test I used to get a general idea of how much sensitivity is lost. The sensitivity is 32 as you suggest when set to a threshold is more or less what I am thinking. Like semi-auto sensitivity there is really no way to know exactly where it is if the threshold is silent depending on the user, headphones, how far below sound it is, etc.

Thank You Cody ,But I wanted to know if anyone tried to hunt in this setting when hunting in mineralizated soil and/or iron" .... with the sensitivity set manual at 32 and hunt without a threshold....Then just dig only good repeatable signals ? How did it work out for you ? did you lose much depth etc
Thanks Dennis 2

It is easy to use and worked fine. I do think I gave up the deeper targets due to the loss in sensitivity with a silent threshold. I have read post by other users that states they hunt with a silent threshold in heavy minerals as you suggest and do just a good as with a threshold.

then I would think you would have no problem with Sens at 32, although I personally if in a noisey area would probably switch to semi-auto on Sens. I always have for almost 5 years hunted with the original XS and no threshold with no problem whatsoever.

I you feel comfortable hunting that way, than don't worry if any depth is lost, if there is any it would be very insignificant in my opinion, and you miss more good targets by going to fast in an area than you will ever lose due to a borderline depth object.

I had a Quattro which I just wasn't craze about. I traded it off for a C$ which I is a great detector, goes very deep ,easy to pin-point ,and just a Great Coin Coin detector . But I wanted a detector that would complement it . So the only one I could see doing that would be the EX2 ( for Me anyway ) .I've been using it for the past two weeks and I think I'm staring to figure it out . The hardest thing for me to do was slow down ....
Thanks Again
Dennis
