Mississippi is up too high to hunt the shores

So I tried some dry land areas near work. My photos not so good quality so I will just blame it on the camera.
Nice to see so many of you are out and finally detecting after the cold weather has tapered off. I actually had to wipe
the sweat off today. Did about 5 miles of trekking. I am totally worn out but it was worth it to me. I need to loose about
15 pounds (actually - 30 would be better).

I am picking up a nice used Harley Sportster (with 1200 kit) this coming Saturday. First Harley I've had for
over 20 years. My old Kawasaki is definitely going to be jealous. It's going up for sale next week. Robbing Peter
to pay Paul as the old saying goes. Should save me a bunch on gas. Went up to 3.50 a gallon here in Iowa
this weekend (regular unleaded). 5% ethanol mid range is going for 10 cents less per gallon but every time I use it, my car starts
running badly.

They wouldn't let me use a detector at Star's cave (State park). They would not let me use it at the old YMCA camp either (unless I join the Y).
I am running out of places to look. Can't take it out on the army ammo plant either. Guess I have to stick to the parks for now. The area where the old civil war fort was located in Burlington before they built a highway interchange on most of it is owned by Perkins Restaurant now. They won't let me detect the property either. Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew. Makes my blood boil. Perhaps if I bring a bunch of flowers to plant in each hole I dig - Now that's an idea!

Yes, lots of rain and flooding so far this year! And yes places to detect are getting scarcer and scarcer! Too many want to hunt it themselves or are just jealous and don't want anyone to find anything to keep for themself! The cig case looks like it's silverplated and not sterling! You did good though just to find something! Not sure what your metal objects are but they look like parts of an old black fence with spikes sticking up! St. Louis city still has fences like that around the old homes, schools and parks!

God Bless and keep on :detecting: and hope you find some goodies!

LOVE THOSE IH'S!!

ONLY FOUND 3 IN MY 3 YEARS OF HUNTING...HOPE I CAN FIND MORE OF THEM

I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER!!

CONGRATULATIONS ON THE TERRIFIC FINDS...INCLUDING THE HARLEY SPORTSTER!:super:

Thanks everyone. BTW - the wheat penny is a 1929 not a 40. My eyes are not so great these days and my prescription glasses I got just last year are not working so great anymore. I have bought a very strong magnifying glass. Hope I will be able to see cars about to cut me off when I get out on the Harley. A woman at work told me not to take my metal detector with me when I go riding because I would look like a dork. I told her I guess I should also get rid of the clip on ear ring and lick-them & stick them tattoos too. May also need to get rid of the jeans that come up to my knees when I sit on the bike, the white socks and tennis shoes will also have to go. Why the heck did I get a Harley anyway?
O-well, I guess one has to make certain sacrifices - but the detector is going with me! I don't care what people say about it.
