Missouri Battlefield Hunt

Had the opportunity to revisit a portion of a Missouri battlefield on private property, with landowners permission. Been hunting this battle off and on for thirty years and have foound lots of interesting finds. In the center, next to the .69 round ball is a somewhat beat up Burnside carbine bullet. Only the third one I've found there, if memory serves. The brass piece on the bottom left is a beat up rimfire cartidge. The coin is a 1918 penny. The finial is the smallest I've ever found or seen. Upper right are two fire starter bullets, found fairly close together, along with the triangular piece of lead. The point on the piece of lead is fairly sharp and makes me wonder if it might have been a fashioned pencil.

Used my F 75 LTD in BP mode, all metal, disc at 7, sens at 75.

Thanks for looking and keep on diggin'

nice finds and thanks for the settings. I have a new F75 that waiting to relic hunt with I should find what I've missed with the old 1266x..

Excellent recoveries

Yep! Good work there, Jimmy! Whats a "fire starter" bullet? I've never heard about that.

Nice job. I like the little 'teardrop' bullet. cch.

Many times they would use the poder in the bullet to start a fire. I've found many partially melted bullets over the years. I think it's a neat find.

The "teardrops" were made in the St. Louis Arsenal, so we find a lot of them here in Missouri. At least I do. I've kept track of how many over the years, just for fun. I've dug 820 "dropped" teardrops from cames and hundreds of shot ones.
