ML 7.5 vs. Sunray 8" opinions...

please. I've heard great things about the Minelab 8" coil (Explorer). Then again, everything I've gotten from Sun Ray is top quality, so I'd like to know how the 8" Stealth rates.

If I already owned a Minelab 7.5" coil I wouldn't bother buying another in that size range no matter WHO builds it.
However, if I needed a 8" coil simply because I didn't own one or needed a replacement .... I'd buy the Sunray.
Ralph builds excellent quality goods, especially for the Explorer and deserves the support back he has given us on the user end.
Think what our world would be like WITHOUT that excellent probe he built for us to use, nothing comes close to it IMO. :)

work well. I have the Sun Ray on my SE mainly because of the weight. I have never had a probelm with it and I have never put the stock coil back on.

The Sun Ray 8 is definitely lighter and although it's a half inch wider, I find I get better separation with it then my Mine lab 7.5. In fact some of my larger coils get better separation then my smaller coils, which is pretty odd when you think about it, but who knows, maybe some are made better than others or two same coils made by the same company, one may out work the other. Mike said it best, Sun Ray coils are top quality. My Sun Ray 8 is by far my most used favorite coil and I have almost every coil made except for the Excellerator 16.5. I don't use my Mine Lab 7.5.
