ML Explorer questions

Out of the Minelab detectors is this the best all around detectors? What coil works best with it . I have a White's Dfx with an sef coil but I also own an Excalibur 2 Water/beach machine that I love. Just wanted your opinions before I made a decision. Thanks Sonny

I believe everyone has a detector that works best for them. When i switched from the DFX, which is a very good machine, ive never been disappointed in that decission. Im a person that never trades a detector until it pays for itsself... and you know how long that might take if you arent out hunting every day. I used both the MXT and the DFX and i like Whites,... big but thou, i think the explorers are deeper and just as easy to learn. Ive also hunted with DFXers that once they hear one of my deep finds have to admit it sounds best on the explorer. You know 80 percent of the finds is the detector.... but the other 20 percent is the user. Ive said what i like... now let me say what i dislike. I dislike the service response for the explorers compared to the whites. I also dont like the warranty where its on the person and not the machine.

Is there a special coil you use? I value your opinion a lot since you have owned both .

I use the 10 X 12 SEF. It was a huge improvement over the standard. You know, to date ive just not found a need for a small coil. It takes work in trashy area but unlike the whites you get great depth at a snails craw. The DFX has to be swung for the filtering system to work the way it was intended. You are going to ask me why i choose the SEF over the Pro... well it came down to price. Dont throw away that whites if you dont have to... they have good resale, good service, and honestly do better for tiny gold... like toe rings.
