A while back armed with my safari I walked up to a old house and asked if I could detect he said sure he also explained his son has been over the yard with his friends over 20 times with other machines I told him if I found something worth anything that I would split half and he said I could have everything xpt his moms ring so I started and in 15 min I found a diamond ring I knocked on the door and said this your moms ring he said no so I went back detecting after 10 min I also found a gold locket he saw me through the window and came out and said I know I told you to keep every find expt moms ring but I want to buy that ring you found I told him he could have it he was very persistent in paying I told him no he could have it this went on for 5 min so I gave him the ring and walked away fast laughing he took the money that he had and shoved it in my finds bag unknowing this when I got home I FOUND 25 DOLLARS .............. wow talk about keeping your word he could played the its my house and land card but he was honest anyway I just thought I would share my story

the best part is we found the girls who lost it and we gave it back it turns out she lost it when she was 8 the same day she was Baptiste it was a great feeling and worth any treasure to see her face and her tears she was 72 yrs old

What a great story thanks for sharing, most of the homeowners around here are like that too, they never want anything I find. They normally say I earned what I found after they see me digging for hours. I had one owner offer to buy coins from me that I found in his yard! He told me to tell him what they were worth and he'd gladly pay me. I took them home cleaned them up, put them into cardboard flips, put the date and my name on them and took them to him. I told him I would not take anything for him, all I wanted in return was to detect his yard again which he was glad to let me do!

Well he was a farmer and he showed all his farmer friends, they saw my name on the cardboard flips and I ended up getting permission to detect their yards as well!

It only takes one episode like that to completely restore my faith in humanity. Then it gets chipped away, little by little again and the cycle repeats itself.
