Best of luck.

I wouldn't say I voided a warranty that ran out 8 years ago!And a pound is a-lot of weight to swing all day when it isn't ergonomically correct.. But your right it is what makes the world go round...

Thanks

Keith

I to thought of a hip mount but I stay in the brush alot and My sovereign I use to use hip mounted caused alot of entanglements .. But if i was hunting open areas or parks and yards it was awesome to say the least!!

Good luck with it!!

p.s.

If you need any help on the wiring for any reason ...Holler at me maybe I can help some how!!

That's a very interesting mod you did on your XS! :beers:

Has the new positioning of your headphone jack caused any problems? Does the headphone cable get in the way now? It seems like when you swing your machine, when the control box moves away from your body, the headphone cable will be pulled on, whereas if it was in its original spot the pivot is still next to the side of your body...hmmmm.

Most mods I've seen involve taking the whole head unit/battery compartment off so you end up just swinging a coil and a shaft. Only downside to this is that you have to have the control unit/batt compartment hanging/attached to your body, which seems cumbersome for a unit with a display and pinpoint button.

For folks with arm/shoulder ailments, or fibromyalgia like me, one pound less swing weight would be a tremendous savings over a 4+ hr hunt!!

PS - I forgot to ask you about the coil wiring on your mic connector......are you just using 4 pins(Tx, Grnd, Rx, Grnd) on a 5-pin connector?

Why not get a swingy thingy?

Thanks, I appreciate it. I ended up with 43 Minelab Explorer IIs from an auction. I have sold about 14 now for $250.00 each. I am now down to the ones that don't look as good or need new screen covers. That is why I decided to make a couple of hip mounts. I am getting pretty good at taking these things apart and putting back together! :) I had one XS in the group and took the 1/4" jack out of a bad II and put it in the XS......now I use the UR-30s without an adapter. :)
