modded Royal Sabre factory mod?

we have acquired a modded Royal Sabre. It appears to have a 3/4 turn knob on the top of the unit that is a GB. there was another hole right below the knob that was plugged. the inside of the unit has an arrow and GB written pointing in that direction of the knob. this was told to us to be a factory added on mod. don't really matter but CURIOUS. was this a factory mod?

really interesting unit. the tones are different than the other unit. wierd sounding. was this a mod too?

Thanks guys. the unit works fine and i tried it in some real nasty soil that i have to carefully GB my same yr model Eldorado. I know the importance of GB and while i like the lazy auto GB, the old manual machines just make it personal.

Glad to hear your after-market modded Royal Sabre is working for you. In Tesoro's earlier days, the Royal Sabre was quite a popular model.

I'm like you and prefer a model with adjustable Ground Balance rather than a factory preset model. Curious, which make and model are you referring to, or have, that has an automated GB? I know there are several I own and use and like, and, fortunately, they work well. That's good because there are fewer and fewer manual GB models left around. I'm just interested in which automated GB system folks like. For me, it's the MXT Pro VX3, M6, Coin GT, Omega that are in my personal arsenal.

Enjoy that RS!

My Silver Sabre Plus and the Amigo II. pretty much turn on and go. the royal sabre without mod is great. my guru actually owns it and the modded one too. a lot of knobs and settings to do. but not half as many as his blisstool. thats a monster. ss+ and amigo II---- simple and quick , manual for the serious hunt--ELDORADO BIG METAL BOX!

with "auto" Ground Balance, and that's only in the All Metal mode. The Lobo ST's Discriminate more relies on an internal 'preset' GB.

Yes, they are "turn-on-and-go," but they don't have an "auto GB" circuitry. Models like the White's Coin GT, M6, MXT Pro, VX3, V3i and former models like the DFX, XLT, XL Pro and others going back to their first automated GB model in April of '85 featured an "auto" GB function to read and adjust to the ground minerals. White's started using an auto GB circuitry 27

thats my bad. i guess the preset is exactly that. point x. and auto --auto adjusts for the best. Now that flatliner in the brain is clear-- i have Preset. no fault on Tesoro that way i just did not read and understand, it didn't click of the actual difference.

i adjusted the threshold on the silver sabre plus, it was actually loud. it seems to be better now.

the Royal went back to the owner. he has another partner that hunts with him where i do not go- personal reasons. the machine may be more suitable for them. the blanker has its uses, but the gold i found the other day was so shallow, i put it on the ground and inch blanking passed right over it. maybe it is not for me.

the machine we discussed in PM is the one for me. saving--starting with the little piece of gold.
