Mode changes VDI?

Yesterday had a chance to finally get out and went to the big intramural ballfields. This would be the first time there for the Legend. I’ve covered it pretty well with F75 but was amazed at the quarters and dimes I was finding in that all I was doing was a wandering walk. I was in Park mode with settings good for here.
Thought I would try Field mode and the first quarter I hit was 49 as was the second and third. Went back to Park and same quarters now 50-51. Dug them up and confirmed as quarters. Also had one nickel that showed 45 in Field where as usually I get 22-23 in Park. All coins were 5-6” deep and with 6 quarters dug all were 70-80s.
Anybody else note the same type of thing?

Yes, there's a VDI discrepancy between Park and Field. And it's nonlinear, which is often a good thing… for example, some (not all) foil in Field reads lower, all other settings being equal, allowing for easier separation from gold (which in most cases reads the same in both modes). For example, we have a ring that reads 15 and foil that reads 15 in Park. Switch over to Field, and suddenly foil goes to 11 while the ring remains 15…

This is how I hunt parks… in Field mode. All metal, pitch tones, M2, IF/St 4.5, Ag 3, Rec 10, iron volume 3. Then I set the tone break at where I wan to draw my "dig / no dig" line. If the place is severely littered with pulltabs and I don't have much time, I tend to set it really high, at 42-44, and dig strictly silver along higher VDI clad… Once I find a location with a bunch of coin spills, I lower the tone break back to 10 or even lower (if foil permits), and slow down. If people lose coins, they tend to lose other interesting things too…
