Modified Sov GT andLouisiana Pelican Buckle

This is picture I had to size down to get posted of the Louisiana Pelican Buckle I found this fall with my Mod Sov GT from David at Dixie Metal Detectors. I was using it with the 8 in coinsearch coil. This set up found this in an area I had pounded for 2 years with several different detectors. It was on edge 4 inches down under a tree root and had several small ferrous items in the same hole. This is my best find ever. When I took this unit down south with me at Christmas I spent some time detecting with one of the top detectorists in the country. He was quite surprised at how much better this performed over the unmodified GT with the stock coil. He took me to a 10x10 area he had pounded many times and wanted to see if I could find even just one non-ferrous target. I found 4 in a short time.
For relic hunting in heavy iron I have found this to be the best...I have used Explorer Se, E-Trac, F-75, CZ3-D and unmodified Sov GT, but none compare to the GT with Dixie Mods and 8 inch coinsearch coil which has a very tight footprint.

That is a beautiful bucke!!!!!! Nice job. That is really encouraging to hear about how well the mod's work for you. I can't wait for spring to try mine out.
Good job Gary

Greg,I have a GT with the Dixie mods that I bought in Dec. so I haven't been able to use it. But the way David (from Dixie) explained it to me you will get up to 30% more depth and better all around performance. If you do a search on this forum you will find where david explain's some thing's about his mod's.
Good hunting,Gary

I'm user too 1,5 year with Gt, this is my last find from 2008 year.
Gt is very deep maschine, this buckle I found from 12 inch.

I have a dixie modified gt LOVE IT,been hunting with sovereigns for about 10 years,i also have a stock gt,i have a S12 coil on my modified gt, IT GOES AT LEAST 2-3 inches deeper than the stock gt-10 coil, have not tried it down south yet in that red clay but up north it works great, thanks tony c

Glad to hear you like the CoinSearch coil and mods. I wouldn't hunt without either on any of my many Sovereign's. Finding your LA buckle is outstanding, especially coming from your home State. No doubt a Union soldier took it home as a souvenir. I'll post front and back pics for you. Good hunting and thank you again for your business, David@Dixie
