Can I make my own discrimination pattern using Pattern 1 or 2 without going to the XChange 2 program? I know how to darken the screen and pass the coil over a coin and have it accepted. I am trying to move a cursor around and create my own discrimination pattern. Example: I would like to darken a few areas in pattern 1 and I cannot find out how to do it. I have read everything on pages 34 and 35 in the manual and it does not help with what I want to do. Thanks for any help.

OMg yes! The xchange program makes it sooooooo much easier to set patterns, then upload the settings to your CTX.

If I understand your request, the info you need is on page 9 of the CTX manual.
(It's pretty simple and straight forward.)
You may also want to learn to use the XChange 2 software...as Jason pointed out, it's much easier to work with.
There's a separate manual just for the XChange 2 you can download here:
