moisture.... good news and bad news.....

The good news is that, after nearly a month without rain, we finally got some moisture. The bad news is that along with the 4+ inches of rain, we also had 80+ mph winds and serious hail. The corn fields were about a week away from being chopped for insulage, or a matter of a few weeks away from being combined. Going to be tough to get up and down these rows now. HH Randy

It can still be done.

A couple of years ago we had an F4 come through just north of me a few miles. The corn looked like someone had spent all night driving around on it with a steamroller. Since the stalks weren't broken, it lived and the farmer let it finnish out. He then spent several days painstakingly getting it up with a 2-row picker, jockying the head height as he went. The same fellow lost his deacon barn cattle and all, but was lucky compared to the folks accross the field.....their place was leveled.

At least digging will be easier now.
