Monday Finds (Plus bonus non-MD gold coin story.)

I grabbed two cups of coffee as I drove down to visit with my pal at the coin shop. He is closed Mondays but he's almost always in the shop and I needed half dollar 2x2s for a project I'm working on. Why am I telling this? Well my pal wasn't there and as is often the case there was a guy pacing the parking lot who probably needed money in a bad way. I went and peeked in the window and the guy said he probably wasn't going to show up so I assumed he had been there on Monday before. I gave my friend a call and he was out of town. This sent the other guy into a rage and I said maybe I could help him out and what was he selling. He said gold coins and I said I was interested. I ended up buying 2 1966 UK Sovereigns for 200 bucks which was 50 bucks less (each) than he said my pal had been paying recently. A very good deal for me, I thought. He had more but I was tapped out. I offered to go to the ATM if he would wait. He said no and we parted. They were in flips and are in very good shape. I bet he inheirited them and was slowly selling them off. They sell for almost 200 a piece on Ebay. I included a pic of the reverse of one.

Onto my hunt. That silver ring looking thing looks like half a ring. It is marked 925 and is bably mangled as you can see. I searched hard for the rest. I really like the "junk" snake ring next to it. Also a nice "God Bless America" pin and boy does America need blessing this week.

The normal clad including 50 Lincoln Memorial Cents. Yep, I had cherry picked this site before. Look how shiny most of the quarters are. All but one or two were recent drops.

The key is marked USPS do NOT duplicate. Probably for a PO Box. A first.
