Monte or JB

I posted down below with y'alls discussion on the 1650 and sure would like some input . I can't seem to get any comments or disgussion going on my question, and I sure would appreciate it. I guess I just keep getting in on the tail end of things and that don't help! Thanks for any input!

I think this is your post that you refer to:

Monte, I have put the question out there a couple of times about the chance of there being 2 different versions of the Compadre."Newer Compadres" and "older Compadres", one with low noise/ high gain, one without.(like the Amigo 2) Seems I have seen conflicting statements even in Compadre ads.
I've had the older 7" coil equipped and newer 5

Monte,
I couldn't have said it better myself. These have been my thoughts concerning Tesoro for a while now. I continue to use, as you say, former Tesoro favorites and any new detectors have been bought elsewhere. They really need to get with the program and come out with some new models, a newer concept, rather than repackaging the same old thing. If I (we) were a lot younger ( a whole lot younger!), I'd take you up on your idea of Coyote/ Coyote uMax/GMT 1650/ Classic crossbreed but we can dream.

Tesoro metal detectors seem to follow the "red headed stepchild" approach with some users. I found them to be very good and well built detectors . They deviate from the normal frequency approach as most detectors , which makes certain detecting options available, I have hunted an area with my primary detector (white's Xl pro 6.59 ) and my minelab sov Bbs . Interestingly I have found that I can pull targets that may have been missed . They operate at 10,12,14 kHz and so on depending on model. They are lightweight no frill detectors, I owned the Cortes and was not too impressed with that model however the tejon , vaquero and my favorite, Eldorado are fantastic machines. The eldorado was and is a good detector , umax circuits , good coils (even clean sweep coil) .

The compadre is a great " backup" detector , a local "dealer" friend of mine thought it could work on 4" coins maybe . I proved him wrong by going to his test garden he made and was surprised that I could hit a dime at 7" , and a tab at 10 ". These ARE NOT TOYS .

So keep your walmart explorers and BH garbage .

I am always looking for used eldorados online so should you .

up a lot for me. I can use my Compadre 5.75 now nowing that it is the one best for those naily places, and that they are all on the same par. That's good because I was wondering if maybe there were indeed different versions.I always follow your comments, and especially any on the 1650,because it really is from all indications an exeptional machine, and does have more than just a little bit more going for it than many of the older, and newer machines. This is pretty much proven to be and not just Hipe and BS. All the more reason we would like to see someone come up with that updated version. Hey, Your Coyote, sounds like a winner, and you would think some would be willing to help you with it. I still remember when I was a kid and all th autos were pretty much the same from year to year.No different choices of colors or this or that, and they all got you where you were going and back.Same is true now with detectors, and when a certain , though older model, will do you as good or even better job, and much cheaper than some newer and unproven detector, well, it is simply a "Duh Moment".I am like you Monte, and any additions I puf on the wall now will be one of the oldie and Goodie ones. Thanks again, Charlie
