Are you sure the ring with the torquise is not silver….looks like it to me.

It is hard to find good rings any more, done got to high . Just junk till things get better. I haven't got gold for a long time.

Oof, I know that “rug pull” feeling—those plated/tungsten rings can look so promising in the ground. Nice save on the ’71 half though, especially being next to a nail… that’s exactly the kind of target most of us second-guess.
Square nail + a half in the same spot usually means there’s more older stuff hiding in there. If you keep hitting that area, you might still pull some silver (or the occasional real ring) once you work different angles and slow the sweep down a bit.
