The two V nickels were in the same hole. The XS was giving lots of null @ -13 Iron Mask but the nickel sound was in there too. Just like those pesky crown caps that you think could be nickels but still have alot of null. That silver quarter was a big sound and not too deep either. I'm surprised it was still there in the ground it was such a strong signal. That "Good For" token says: "Fred Potthast 146 Clark St." on the back.

The silver had me fooled by how shallow it was. Guess I need to dig more shallow coins there!
 
I know what you mean about the shallow silver fooling you. I have found merc dimes at two inches at a pounded to death park in Seattle and it makes you wonder how so many others I'm sure before me that didn't find them before I did. Must me those great Minelab XS's.:detecting:

I like that Token you found. Those are always fun to find...then you have a little piece of history from that establishment from long ago. Do you have any idea what town it is from? Congrats on a few more nice keepers Neal. Looks like your hitting the right spots and digging some nice old stuff. Continued Success, Good Luck and HH to you.:thumbup:

Great finds! Your token did a little traveling. It is listed in the second edition of the text Trade Tokens of Illinois ((1983 by Ore Vacketta) as being from Chicago. The book doesn't give a time period but it looks to me like early 1900s - 1920s but that's just a guess. That other non-coin item in your photo looks like a lead bag seal from NY Central Railroad. I have found a few bag seals but never one from a railroad. Keep those neat finds coming and happy hunting!
