I know this is a bit off track, but still a mystery that I am looking to solve. This original photo turned up in a box of my family photos. I emailed the photo to a guy in the Boston Red Sox home office. He said he was looking into it, but never got back to me. I am guessing that from the style of dress of the fans in the background it appears to be taken in the late 40s or early 50s. The only other clue is that he looks to be holding a catcher's mitt. Anyone know who this dapper gentleman is?

Kinda looks like Sammy White?

Thanks for the reply Timwied. Sammy White did play for the Red Sox as a catcher in the 50s, but he was in his 20's into his 30's at the time. The time period seems to fit, but the guy in my pic looks older than that, but it could be White. Just not sure.

I live 30 miles north of Boston, but not a sports fan. Maybe we can get an answer.
Ron J.

Thanks Ron. Thought for sure the BoSox organization would have the answer, but as I said, the contact there never did get back to me. Let me know if anything turns up.
