More on EMI

Interference has been my bane as of late. This monday I got to stop by an old house for an hour. 5x10 DD on the machine started hunting at 27 Sens then the EMI started, I looked up to see a local landscape truck going by and after he was a block past the interference stopped. Then started again but not as bad about 10 Min later. Well I backed off the Sens to 23 and was able to hunt with stability. I think there will just be some neighborhoods that I will always have issues in because of wireless communications and other forms of EMI. It does help to find that there are valid reasons for pulling my hair out.

Maybe this will help someone. Yes my connections were tight, cable is not flopping around and I redid my NC and I was running in Tracking and have recently did a Factory Presets.

I have wondered why mine has all of a sudden started getting so many falses and then quits just as suddenly. Never thought a vehicle could put out so much interference! Thanks

You wouldn't believe.
I've done several videos involving vehicles, and with modern electronic (digital) video equipment it can be a challenge. The amount of electronic information being processed by a vehicle nowadays is incredible, and depending on the peticular sensor, many have magnetic fields. Though generally small, these fields will seriously mess with other sensitive electronics within range.

I recently had the same problem on a large hill in Scotland, I thought my detector was broken; the sensitivity was turned down completely and still getting a pulsed interference and this was the case all around the hill (about an area of 2 sq. Miles). The interference stopped about

Chris, Yes it could. There are areas in the world that the earths magnetic fields are concentrated for whatever reason. There is a spot in Montana that every thing inside of a 100M area every thing looks to be slanted as if the trees grew crooked and the house was built at an angle, but when you enter into the "field of interference" every thing looks normal. Never been there myself, but from what I understand there are 10 or 12 of these spots throughout the world. I have a friend that has been there several times, and as I trust his word I have to take this as for real.

Anyhow, the fields can be altered by large mineral deposits.

Trucks, I was thinking that it was radio interference, I did not think about the vehicles own electronics, but I will have to pay attention to the traffic patterns when I hunt near arterials.

Are you talking about the one in Columbia Falls, MT? Or the other one...which I can't remember right now...

Sorry...tourist traps. But, they are still fun optical illusions if you ever get the chance to visit.
