Our daughter Michelle foound out that Medicade will pay for the surgery she needs under certain circumstances. For the newbies here she needs a pacemaker put on her stomach because her stomach doesn't work sometimes and you don't know when it will be. It's called gastro-paresism (paralyzed stomach). She also can't handle certain foods. Her diet consists of peanutbutter toast, an occasional grilled chicken with nothig on it and an occasional baked potatoe with nothing on it. She is nauseated 24 hours a day to varying degrees. She can't lie down as she gets a burning sesation in her esophegus, Yes she sits up 24 hours a day and it is affecting the muscles in her shoulder and neck. She has a distended stomach, a sign of malnutrition. With her diet, not a special diet just what she can eat who would have thought. The medical community in the U.S. doesn't have a handle on malnutrition either. She has an appointment with the surgeon on August 28. Maybe next year this time she can be up and around. These patients at this point time don't return to a normal life just a more active one. After three years this has been quite a battle.
