had a good day out. went back to my junk filled park for three hours today and got 15 pre-decimal coins 11 Penny's ( the oldest was 1920 ) 2 halfpenny's 1 1958 silver florin 1 1944 silver threepence and one 1937 king George coronation medal. i dug a lot less junk today digging only the small quiet tones. i swung the coil quite slowly and the coins started to flow in. hopefully i"ll post some pics later ??
thanks for looking
lazyaussie

thanks David. yeah i"d take any one of those. the holy dollar would be very unlikely as vic was just being colonised as they were called back from use.
the gold sovereign is the most likely as there were millions of them being used ( and lost hopefully ) every day from 1850s to 1930s.
actualy i"d love to find some 1850s trade tokens i really like them and some are worth big $$$ i think they are a super piece of Aussie history and hugely under valued.
have you found any gold sovereigns while hunting ?? i was thinking of putting some clear plastic over the screen and marking were sov & half sov sit on the smart find so i don't miss them as i mostly dig high tones.

hi all, sorry about the lateness of the photos, not good with computers and digital cameras, this is a picture of the coins plus the one penny I found today

Hey, good hunting, ~ nice to see so many oldies being detected !:clapping:

Looks like you have found a good zone alright ...

~ I've gone and ordered my new Pocket Uniprobe, ~ should be here in 5 to 10 days !

I'd be stoked just to find one pre-decimal on a hunt, but to find that many.......... what park was that again? ongrats.
Mick Evans.

Thanks snowy. let me know how that uniprobe works out.
Mick it was dumb luck i hit this park as it has a tot lot and on the way back to the car i saw a bottle dump i had a dig around found 15 bottles and 2 Penny's.
i think there was a 40s farm house here as most of the coins came from an area that was between the house and the road.
