I lived in a canyon in North central Washington state on the east side of the Cascade mountain range, nestled right up in the foothills. It quite literally got no direct sun during the day because it was so deep and steep, and by the end of the winter season, there would be 6' of snow built up. I can remember 80 plus days of snow on the ground. I like it here in Portland much better. It's wet, but at least it's a lot warmer!I hope your straight jacket doesn't cut of your circulation or something!

Toss down a handfull of clad, do some multidenom stacks too, check all the jewelry you have as well..this will be very helpful for your ears to get used to the tones...you should be picking up the nails in the floor joists, unless your house is built on a slab, but even so, you get some practice on what a multidenom spill sounds like, and those little gold rings, and you will be ready...another thing is to hunt with your eyes closed or blindfolded, really helps your ears process tones better, when you hit a signal, try to bend down and touch the object with one finger with your eyes closed, open them up, how close did you come to it? Its better than nothing...you will get good... try to go from ping to pouch in less than 10 sec with your eyes closed...all these excersizes should be of some great entertainment for you and your wife as well, you can do it in your underwear, or nude if you prefer!

Thanks Mud, finally got around to responding to your post, had to clean the root beer off the monitor first. 
The day I come out naked with only my metal detector, will be the day the wife commits me. lol
I like the idea of scattering the coins around, should be fun to do for practice. Again, I'll have to find a way to involve my wife, or she will have me committed.
