Caught two sturgon and some redhorse, Set em all free, stripped my diawa reel as well, darn monster fish!! I wear a size 12 shoe, and the shiny thing is a daredevil spoon this one was so big i could not lift it up. Woot!!!!!

Tks. From what I understand these 2 could be 60-75 years old? ? ?. The MI record is 197 lbs. Hard to believe fish could live so long it's poss to have fish in the lakes and rivers that were alive during the Civil war. Mind boggling. That's why they get pics, and right back to keep swimming and making little fish!

Great finds and nice fish. Fishing is another hobby of mine. Striped Bass are about to spawn up here and I will be out on the river to try to hook a few over the next 6 weeks or so. Shad also spawn at this time and I know a few guys who drift for them and every once in a while they get a big sturgeon. They normally tear up the drift net but sometimes they make it to one of the boats. A few years ago a guy netted one that was over 200 pounds and almost six feet long.

I'm looking forward to some deep fried striper, shad roe, and smoked shad. Good for you photographing and releasing. I do that with all the big fish I catch. Proven survivors should be allowed to live and create offspring with good genes.

Chris

Gotta love those old darevevils too! Ever find one detecting and use it fishing?

Nice going R n R did the fish come up as silver or gold on the detector? hehe Very nice finds and a good looking fish. Do you eat or catch and release? WTG

Tectin' & fishin'. It don't get no better than this:biggrin:Man, you are a killer on those Buffs. Hittin' 'em hard! Bet you get a nice ring before too long:thumbup: Awesome hunt! Congrats! Nice fish and nice finds! Happy Hunting!

Oh! You did get a ring! Sorry man, I don't know how I missed that. I must have been day dreaming again. Congrats on the nice finds! WTG!:clapping:

WE didn't have anything to weigh this one with but figured it at 200-250. It felt like a ton when we handled it. Sturgeon have no bones and are solid meat.

We have sturgeon in the Columbia River here that go 2000 pounds. They are prehistoric and grow to monstrous size. I remember when I was a kid in the Midwest a guy caught one out of the Mississippi that was 10-12 feet long and hung it in a tree next to the highway for everyone to see. I've caught alligator gar out of the Mississippi that were eight feet. Caught one at Lake of The Ozarks in the Osage River that was seven but we were in a boat so had to cut it loose. You have to shoot those puppies before you drag them into a boat.
