More wintertime boredom.... 1,400+ Indian cents!

Ok... I had to do the same thing with my Indian Cents. That collection is also 5 short of being completed. I need 1860, 1862, 1871, 1877, 1909S. I think I stand a decent chance of finding these... eventually. I may even have a better than average shot at a 1909S since I have found 1909S Wheaties here. Here is the run-down:

Total Indian cents - 1,427

There weren't many surprises in these numbers... they all seem to follow their respective mintage figures somewhat. Copper Nickel indian cents are hard to find in this area, though. about half of the ones I did find were up north and east from here. I also found 6 Civil War tokens which circulated in the early years of the Indian Cents, and a couple of them were found at turn-of-the-century sites which may suggest that they circulated well after the end of the civil war and reconstruction era.

I hope you enjoyed this post... I could go on with counts of my other coins like mercs and barbers, but the weather is finally starting to warm up a little and I'll be off to try and fill those last few holes in the albums! Take care and HH, Mike.

Hopefully once I learn the Explorer I'll start picking up a few more Indians. Only have 3-4 so far.

(I only have 100+ wheats so far but I'll count and list those later on the other thread. Ought to be a data point for the areas I hunt. I know I have a real peak in the '40s. But beyond the mintage aspects, some of the other things I've thought about is the 50s ones may have been picked off by earlier or less-depth-seeking detectors. I've wondered how much the depth I'm capable of affects what I'm finding.)

not to mention everything else you found too. Congrats Mike on all those finds. Hoping to see more posts of your finds when winter is over.
Was going to make a stupid comment about how you guys must have had more Plains Indians than we had Chippewa and Ojibwe here in Michigan...but not going to say that hahaha..

Great job Mike
