Most of these finds came on Sunday, 7 came during Saturday's short hunt.

Saturday me and Dale finally got out and started detecting around 1:30 in the afternoon. Dale had a few Dents to remove out of a few Cars so I met him at Island Park in Fargo, N.D. I found a 1911 Wheat Penny, a Stick Pin, and some sort of Button or Cufflink that says Baer & Wilde on the back. This Park is pretty much worked out and if you find 1 Old Coin here, you had a great outing. From there, we tried a few other spots and didn't find too much more but a V Nickel and 3 Wheat Pennies. Sunday is when I had a little more luck when I went out by myself. In Clad I found 27 Quarters, 37 Dimes, 2 Nickels, and 60 Pennies. I would have had more but I started to pass some up trying to find some Deeper Targets and hoping to add to my Silver Count this year. Here is what I found. I found 6 more Silver and would have had more but a few people showed up and started to practice Softball on the only field I haven't detected on yet. I did walk thru it though going to get a Soda and did get a Wheat Penny in the Teen's and had to pass up other Good Targets due to people showing up. The Silver were 1 Washington Quarter dated 1942-s (this Coin was only recovered by Luck, due to top of a Can being dug out of this same hole and when I went and rescanned the Plug, I got a high squeal with a reading of 30 thinking it was the rest of the Can. I decided to remove the rest of the Can and opened the Plug back up and on the side of the hole was the Quarter staring back at me), 1 Mercury Dime dated 1944-s, and 4 Roosevelt Dimes dated 1949,1953-d,1954-d, and 1957-d. I also found 2 Nickels which are 1 Liberty V Nickel dated 1900 and 1 Buffalo Nickel dated 1917. I can barely make out the 1917 on the Buffalo Nickel and will have a Before and After Shot of the Buffalo Nickel after the use of Nic-A-Date Date Restorer to confirm it is definitely a 1917. I also found 2 Tokens. They are as follows. The first one isn't anything special but is still a neat find. It is a 1994 Knot's Camp Snoopy Token that says No Cash Value on it. The Second Token is a Good For 5c In Trade / Meng & Garvik Crookston, Minn. I found a different Token made of Aluminum from this same Store last fall but it didn't have the M cut out in the center like this Brass Token does. I also found 1 Canadian Penny dated 1933. No Indians this weekend but I did end up with 25 more Wheats for my efforts, which are dated 1910,(2)1911,1913,1917-s,1919,1920,1926-d,1928,1929-d,1930-d,1932-d,1934,1936,1942,1944-d,(2)1945-d,(2)1946-d,1948-d,1949,1956-d, and(2)1957-d. I also found 2 other Misc. Items, part of a Pocket Watch and an Old Belt Buckle. The Tokens Pic will shortly follow this Post. Thanks for looking and Good Luck and HH. I just hope I can find a few keepers next weekend. I have a Club Hunt to attend that has Pre-Buried Coins and lots of prizes on Sat. and Sun. so I will have to try and find a few keepers that are Originally Lost Coins either at this Park or somewhere else. Great finds,I know what you are talking about with the parks and digging deeper targets.How many pull tabs did you find to get those nickels,I dont have those nickels down yet but working on them.

the reason for it was because of lack of Targets in the Park. I would get an 8 on Digital and I already knew that it wasn't going to be a Nickel and thought I might get lucky and pull a Ring. Sunday I didn't dig any Pulltabs at all and the Nickels that I did get all came up as 5 on Digital and had a Low Tone that I was starting to listen for. But I am sure I passed up a few that read 6 since I walked over them. Thanks for the reply and Good Luck and HH.

practice on learning my nickel sounds. There are not many people who know their machine like you do. I wanted to thank you for your tips you have given me on settings. There are a few people on the forum who have really helped me see the "light" on this machine and you are definately one of them.

The finds I got on Sunday came from an area that use to be a Fairgrounds and was moved in 1913. There is still activities going on here do to all the Balldiamonds but I think most of the Barber stuff is deeply buried when they moved dirt around. But it still is nice to have a spot that yeilds some Silver somewhat close to home. Good Luck and HH Savage.

I myself am still trying to learn the Nickel Sound also but it is a tough one to master. Some come in at 4 on Digital but these are usually the ones that are on edge, some come in on 5 which are the more deeper Nickels that I have seen so far and they also come in at 6 for the Newer Nickels if they are shallow. The War Nickels sometimes come in at 6 also but can be higher. I found a War Nickel last fall that gave me a reading of 25 and I thought for sure that it was going to be an Indian Head Penny but out pops a War Nickel. I guess the ground leeched out some of the Manganese in the Nickel and made it more Silverish sounding and it is way more Denser than your average coin. Sounds like dropping a piece of dense wood. I am glad that I have helped you with your finds and some Explorer Tips and it makes me feel good that someone that is far away has been helped by me just posting what my settings are or how I hunt. It is amazing how many Silver and such I have pulled from this spot alone. It is well over 100 and I also have had others with me digging Silver so I would say it has to be around 150 or so. Thanks for the Post Charles and Good Luck and HH.

Nice collection, especially for a short hunt. Wish I could do as well here in Florida. Heck, I haven't even found one silver coin yet this year -- plenty of clad though.

I am sure there has to be some place in Florida that has some Silver in it. Just have to drive around or find out where some of the old Ball diamonds and other very active spots are and see if they still exist and if they do then you may have a spot that yields some Silver for you. Clad Coinage is also fun to dig since it adds up quite quick and at the end of the year a person can either get some Detector Accessories or something useful that they have been wanting to get. And there is always a possibility of finding some nice Rings or Jewelry also while Clad Shooting. Thanks for the response Wayne and Good Luck and HH on your next voyage out.
