Mother's ring

Found a nice mother's ring today. Gold 10K in excellent condition. I was searching a friend's front yard this afternoon and found this about four inches deep. She has three sons, so I hope I can return it and maybe get a few more yards to search as well. Also found a 1903 Indian Cent, several wheat cents and a handful of clad. Still have a lot more to search at this house.

Beautiful! Way to go on the finds! Great picture too! Thanks for sharing.

I talked with my friend at work yesterday. It turns out that her Dad gave this ring to her Mom, who was very upset by its loss almost 30 years ago and again when her husband died. I had a nice big lasagna waiting for me at work this morning. I wish all ring returns were this easy!

Very cool! love to hear when things get back to where they belong. well done

Mark Clement Ty, you have made my mother so wonderfully happy and brought back special memories to her. The story of the ring you found while metal detecting in the yard of my childhood home has now an even more interesting story behind it. Pat and I had dinner with her last night. I gave her the ring you found. The ring was a special gift to her from my dad. Over twenty five years ago my parents home was burglarized. My parents came home while the thieves were in the house. Hearing my parents, the thieves ran out the front door. We figure the ring was dropped during their escape. My dad passed twenty two yrs ago. You have returned a special gift to my mom from the man she loves and misses. She "thanks you a million times over." I thank you for putting a happy, beautiful smile on her face.

Great story! She looks most pleased - there's something a little extra special when a personal item gets back to its rightful owner - sure...old silver coins are certainly cool to find, but these are public property IMO. Personal items like this make this hobby a bit more rewarding spiritually!
