Motor for centech pinpointer

I know people have been tapping into the peizo to add the vibrator mod on the centech.... But mine has a spot marked for motor....positive and negative.
Isn't that the same thing? (I mean before I spend time soldering)

I made a schematic of the Centech in case I ever have to repair it. If you want to add the vibrating motor, you also have to add a resistor and jumper.
I would recommend trying a 150 ohm resistor for R14. You can leave the buzzer connected if you want.
Good luck

I used a 3VDC Micro-Vibration Motor from Radio Shack. It draws 40ma at 3V.
120 or 150 ohms for R14 would be a good size for this motor.

Without the resistor this motor would have a shorter lifespan and the battery would run down quicker.

If you find a higher voltage motor (7V to 9V) you could use a jumper wire for R14.

Made the motor mod to my Centec.......no resistor (Not saying it wouldn't work if you added one). Tapped the motor to the speaker wires. I ran all summer with one battery. Just my 2 cents worth.

Okay Guys
Your right. You can run the motor without the resistor.
If you connect it across the speaker, R13 will take care of the excess voltage.
Anyway I hope somebody found the schematic useful.

I also hooked up a new switch and a vibrating motor to my sons centech using the speaker wire route he is still using the same battery from last year.. Does anyone know where to get a good potentiometer
