What can you tell me about X5 detector.Does the older X5 need some kind of Mod;if so how can I tell what year needs the MOD;.Thank's

Some of the earliest X5 releases were a little "too" sensitive, which caused some noise in the audio. Serial numbers under 300 were the only ones affected, and Troy offered a "re-tune" program free of charge for owners of the early machines, with the mods done by the design engineer himself in Arizona. The "mod" made the X5 much more stable in very trashy and high mineralization areas, and all production machines after S.N. 300 had the "re-tune" done on the production line as a part of the manufacturing specs.
On units with S.N. 300 or below, look inside the battery compartment. If there is a small square white decal in there with the letter "H", then the modification has already been done to that machine.
