Mr Mode

Mr. Bill owens and operates Surfscanner Detectors, his name is Bill Crabtree and he modifies the stock Whites IDX series detectors by installing an adjustable threshold tone, adjustable ground balance, and a boost to the existing circut. The classic IDX has always been one of White best detectors, and the IDX Pro was better. Mr. Bill tweaks the IDX into a super coins shooter.
I found this out by accident, my 26 year old son was getting interested in gold detecting, so for a present I bought him a used gold detector. after one year my son told me he did not have the time to go gold detecting in the gold fields of Colorado and said he was considering trading the gold detector for a coin detector. I had him send me the gold detector and I traded it for an IDX that had been modified by Mr. Bill, at the time I did not know who he was.
I thought before sending it to my son in Colorado I would check it out and make sure it was working. I took it to an area that I had already hunted using two high end detectors and found alot of coins with the IDX. I thought how could I have missed these coins with my other detectors. Come to find out my other detectors had a target masking problem, they could not id coins close to nails, where as the IDX was finding coins under nails. I learned it does not matter how deep you detector goes, but rather how well it seperates targets that counts. TB
