Mrs G4E gets her first silver...with MY x-70 !!!!!!!!!

well today my wife went to the field with me again. She was using my xterra 70.....We hit the field where I got the 1886 seated dime the other day....I got the 3 CRUSTY indians you see, and the thing marked Faoen, not sure what it is?

Anyhow, she kicked my butt, getting her first EVER silver.....remember her first field coin this year was a 1859 indian.................

and her first silver is...............

1853 to 1855 seated HALF DIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it has a hole thru date, but it has arrows by date and those are only 1853-1855. When she found it she called me over and said what is this thing and handed it to me.....I started whooping and doing the happy dance for her and shouted it is a half dime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have never even dug one yet in 4 yrs.

Looks like you've got some competition!!

Terry that is so cool that your wife is hunting with you. The half dime is icing on the cake. Cool first silver. I read somewhere that they used to hole coins to sew into the lining of a coat. That way they would always have some cash.

Thats what I'm talking about. That is a really nice first silver. Tell her congratulations for us. Good to see you on xterra forum again.

I look a lot but post mostly on the etrac forum

A really great find!! Congrats to her! I hunt mainly with my wife also! You couldn't ask for a better hunting buddy!

Very nice recoveries! Tell the Mrs. Congrats from the X-TERRA forum. Ya know, I just have to ask..........considering you've made several posts telling how your ETRAC is finding things in places you'd already hunted with your X-TERRA......... how do you explain missing that half-dime with your E-TRAC, and your wife finding it with the X-TERRA? :poke: Jusk kidding you, Terry. Those of us who hunt open fields recognize that we'll never get them all. Congrats on the nice recoveries and for finding a hobby you both can enjoy. Best of luck in your future hunts. HH Randy

in the field I had only hunted there an hour last saturday, so basically it was a virgin field when the wife and I went back!

This is almost too strange to be a coincidence...when I saw your coin I did a double-take. Here are photos of a seated half dime we found and it's almost identical to your MD find. As you can see, it's dated 1857 and the hole is almost in identical location.

I've always wondered why it had a hole. Thanks to TURNMASTER Jeff for the information about how they used to sew coins into their coats. That make sense and is the only rational explanation I could imagine.
