Mumble, Grumble...Waves..Kept me up high..Mumble..Frustrating! (LONG)

Meander

New member
This was NOT the subject line I wanted to put.
I HAD already picked out what my subject title was going to be..I was being as optimistic as possible & feeling good..especially after seeing how the beach seemed to finally be producing!
it didn't happen:thumbdown:
It'll happen one day, I hope...??

Went out this past weekend with Mike.
Fri night/sat morning:
Started out around 9th and made a right and went lower...
Not much happening for me & the Quattro.
even though it was supposedly low tide, the waves were coming in pretty hard & coming up HIGH on the wet sand.
Which means I had to stay up HIGH in the lane--I was NOT happy about this:veryangry:
Ended up having to reduce sensitivity to accommodate the waves that decided to come ALL the way up to see me
Target count was DOWN
JUST to dig something--I went up into the dry sand (only because it rained earlier and the dry sand was damp--could walk on it) briefly and dug a couple of coins, a junk ear ring & couple of bottle caps!
Made it to the pier.
I meandered down a little lower than I should have...Picked up a target
Nice ID # 21...could be anything--a rivet from a pair of jeans to a gold ring. Either way, it was my BEST chance of finding something that wasn't clad!
Waves weren't too bad, but still enough to annoy me.
Scan..Scoop Scan scoop--WAVE...scan Scoop Wave scan Wave Scan scoop
Where is this thing!!!???? And what's up with the waves coming in more now???
It's moving around in the hole--has to be small!?!
Scan scoop Wave, Wave, Scan scoop
Scoop, scoop, scoop, scoop, scoop (went into recovery mode just to get it out of the hole)
Scan pile--not there, scan hole--Still there!
repeated the above to no avail. Finally gave in. I was SO frustrated!

Let's try it (condensed) smiley version
:detecting::surprised::clapping::ranting::detecting::rant::starwars::sick::ranting::sadwalk::surrender::goodnight:

ONLY "good" thing was I found my first Sacajawea Dollar!
Didn't realize it till the next day--it comes up around the quarter range

Sunday Midnight:
This was going to be MY night. I was feeling it.
Started out at the pier..walking down to the beach--seemed like it would be good--looked to be calm...
Well, it's calm, BUT waves are still coming up high.
Didn't let that bother me--the little gold I have recovered was found high, so it could still be a great night.
Head north briefly, then turned around and headed south.

Looked out at the Black Calm.
Until 15 feet away, the mouth opens to unleash a white frothy tongue
that rolls silently up to gently lick my feet

It was really like that--Ocean seemed still right up to where the waves were crashing--& they weren't big waves.
Kinda cool--the curvature of the wave would pick up the lights from the hotels--it looked like there was a light BEHIND the wave that was turned on ever so briefly. (had to be there)

Over the past two nights, I'd developed a Mantra:
Come on silver, gold, platinum
After a while of not finding anything it becomes
Come on Dime, Quarter, Nickel
After not finding ANYTHING it becomes
Come on anything good:rofl:

Target count still low.
& a lot of it is DEEP. 2-4 scoops before retrieval.
Was happy with myself.
Had a very Broken signal--ID 15.
It was deep & very broken--couldn't even pinpoint it.
So I dug where I thought it was at. Took quite a few scoops, but I got that d@mn nickel! It was about where I thought it was, it was deep, Yet it was a newer nickel (past 2 years)

Another interesting note is that I lost the signal on about 3 targets.
Relatively deep, but after the 2nd scoop--it's not there anymore. It's in the next one or two scoops.
Don't know if it was because everything was deeper this go round as to why I would lose it.
It's happened before, & I expect it every so often (breaking the halo concept) just seemed like more so last night for some reason.

Been doing a loose Sin curve trying to find a target line.
Came up to the beginning of a Hotel. Hadn't been finding much so I figured I would tighten it up a little and grid the wet sand by the hotel to see if I could find anything!
Went up a little high..Quarter!
This was was Green though....near the top of the sand....
Thought to self...Self--THIS is your SIGN!
This was probably tossed up here...be diligent and this is where you will find your treasure!
Started griding..started digging. It was a very nice coin patch!
I look to my right. A little further down, Mike is doing the same thing!
I stumbled upon it near the beginning, he's in the middle of it.
Here my Mantra was just for something silver--I was trying not to be too greedy! But Alas, it was not meant to be.
It was fun though!! That made it an enjoyable night--was tired afterwards (too bad it was a lot of pennies though)

On the hunt back, hit a nice low tone--ID 7-8.
Thought this could be it.
Looked behind me, I was right beside THE pipe used for sand replenishment.
Sighed and thought it would be junk..Dug it..it was a junk ear ring--At least it was something! Gave me a start though! When I dug it, I threw the clump of sand on the beach & I saw a round edge that glinted & looked like gold!

There's always next time!! This was just a practice session!:buds:

(this post has ended up WAY longer than I thought it would be..so to those who read it--I appreciate it!)

enjoyed and had to laugh about the scoop - wave - scoop - I have been known to say a few choice words to the waves.
