MXT 6x10 coil, still the best one for small to med gold nuggets?

4x6..... It's the best for the small nuggets.
 
In my opinion, yes. The 6x10 is a great coil, and the one specifically designed for the MXT. It has good sweep coverage - 10" - and it is a DD coil which is great in mineralized ground.
It will provide good depth on medium nuggets. "Small" is a relative term, so unless you were meaning grain-sized nuggets the 6x10 is a great choice.
 
Some like this coil just fine for gold nugget hunting. Others seem to like the smaller 4X6 Shooter coil. I have used them both in a variety of gold nugget sites in Oregon, Nevada, Utah, California and Arizona. So far, my personal favorite gold nugget hunting coil is the 6
