The MXT is one versatile machine, especially if you add another coil or two to your arsenal. Take the time to learn it well and it will reward you with lots of goodies.

BIG congrats on your MXT purchase! You're going to love it. I've had mine for 8+ years and it's still one of the top machines. Good luck and when that snow melts, keep us posted on your finds. HH, Nancy

Hi BOBVA, I think you'll love the MXT. I've had mine for 2 1/2 years and still learning more about it all the time.I've now gotten more than $700.00 out of our sports complex in the past 2 years. The MXT (IMHO) is the best machine made and service, fantastic, never had a problem. Also to let you know I was in the :usmc: during the Korean war. Tho I did retire from the :usaa: in 87',with 27+ years of service. Where are you located? I'm here in FL and I, (99%)
of the time use the 6 X 10 DD coil. I also have a super 12 coil thats very good(tho a little heavy) in the open spaces, (such as soccer, soft and baseball, football fields, etc.I also bought a DX-1 pinpointing coil and use only it and it's been great. Hope you get as much enjoyment out of your MXT as I have mine. Thanks for looking, good luck:detecting: A very good Book to read on the MXT is called The MXT EDGE, by Jeff Fisher. Happy Hunting and

Thanks Floridason. I'm located in Northern VA, about 25 miles south of the DC beltway off I95. Got the book before I bought the detector and it has been a great reference. Kids are getting me a 6x10 for Xmas and I'm looking seriously at a Detech Excelerator 10x14. Thanks for the welcome.

Hello Bob from Virginia.
Never been up your way but maybe one of these days.
What kind of MDing do you like to do?
The Katz

Katz --- I originally planned to get a detector to go back to the old homestead in Nebraska and see what I could find from the pioneer days that might be from my ancestors. The were some of the original settlers in Nebraska. Bought a BH Pioneer 505 Pro and tried it for a couple of months. However, in the interim I started researching the area around me in VA, which as you know, goes back to the days of the original settlers of this country. Also the area is rich in Civil War history and rife with relics from that era. Also, through my research, found that I was very interested in the early gold placer deposits and mines in this area. Before the rush of 1849, VA was one of the major gold producing areas in the U.S. Took a hard look at what I was really interested in and decided that my priorities were: 1) relics 2) gold and 3) coins and jewelry. Researched the detectors that I felt would address these priorities and decided on the White's MXT. Got a used one on EBay for a little more than $400, which was under my $500 ceiling for a detector. This detector seems to excel in all three modes. I was impressed that it's circuitry was based in part on White's gold master and it would be a creditable machine for nugget hunting. I plan on putting additional $s into this for coils suitable to my interests. Kids are getting me the 6x10 DD for Xmas and I am looking to buy the 4x6 DD for nugget shooting in crevices and a Detech EXcelerator SEF 10x12 (butterfly) for large area searches - fields and beaches. Have received permission to hunt a couple of parcels of land in the area and am now waiting for the weather to cooperate.

$400.00 is a decent price used. What did you do with your BH?
The kids go with you MDing?
Hope you find lots of good stuff.

Kept the BH for when the kids or friends want to go with me, or as a backup detector. Not a bad detector, just not as capable as the MXT.
