MXT pinpointing

I have had my MXT about 3 hours now. Does anyone have
any suggestions on learning how to pinpoint with it.
I can tell this is a better maching than my Garrett
but I can use any pointers that anyone would like to
share. Thanks, Scott

Read the section of your manual on pin pointing. It explains it pretty good. The MXT pin points real accurate.
Use the X method they recommend in the manual.
Put a coin on the ground and practice using that method.

Tape 2 pieces of red string over the center opening of the stock coil and you have an instant bullseye! Als do an X like the manual says.

Once you do it a few hundred times, it gets easier! I have an easier time with deeper targets. For the shallow (loud) ones, you can pull the trigger twice, and it will shorten up the window.
After you X it out, and have a general idea, keep moving the coil slowly, until the signal is at its loudest. Then get your eyes as close to directly over the coil as you can, and sight right down to where the rod bolts onto the coil.
I usually set the detector down, and put my thumb on the spot. Then I get my digger and cut a 3 sided plug, fold it back, and get to looking. An electronic pin-pointer is VERY handy here, especially with clad, as it turns the same color as the dirt it's laying in.
When I first started out, I cut a plug about 4" square. With practice, I've got it down to about 2". I feel it is better to cut too large of a CLEAN plug once than to make 2 or 3 smaller ones before you find the beep.

Thanks for the advice. I am just used to the Garrett
I have. On the coil of it, it has the X . I like the
MXT so far, just the pinpointing thing is gonna take
sometime to learn......</STRONG>
