Finally, after 8 months and untold hundreds of hours of metal detecting I finally found my first silver coin! I was totally caught by surprise too. I started metal detecting back in May of 2013 with my first detector, which was a Garrett AT Pro, then in October of 2013 I upgraded to the Minelab CTX 3030.

I found gold with the CTX right away but silver still had eluded me! It is hard to come by here in the Pacific NW unfortunately! The coin is a 1942 s Washington quarter, and it rang up on the target ID on my CTX as 12 & 13:46/47 which told me it could be silver, but I didn

That's a nice silver coin for the first one... silver is elusive enough as you have found out for yourself, but silver quarters are very elusive (at least for me).... hope you find many more!!!!

Save it. Put it in a holder and mark it for later. Really. Many years from now you'll be glad you did. Ain't it great?!
