Took a 2nd shot at my new field Friday. I had high expectations after the first time ( finding a KGII and two IHs, etc). Well, I sampled a good portion of the field and the targets were few. I was a bit disappointed until I cleaned off a military button and found that it was a British Artillery. I'm not sure of the vintage, but being two piece, I'm sure it's not as old as Rev War. Any info would be appreciated from the experts. The banner at the bottom of the button looks like it says U D I Q U but I'm not sure. I don't want to clean it any more til I get advice on the best method.
Also found another IH (1865), a small flat button and what I believe is a horse bridle rosette.
Thanks for sharing. Bruce
