Got out last week to a friend's 1860 house in Cincinnati. Found an 1864 2 cent piece ON THE SURFACE next to his fence. Gave it the hot peroxide bath and a tooth brushing. He had done some landscaping last summer and must have excavated it for me to come along and pick up. I've also found an Indian Head and a Shield Nickel on the surface in the last year or so.
 
hot peroxide bath?? How does that work?? Aside from using hot peroxide? *haha*
 
Glad to see you got out for a hunt. I got out today to devou with another guy, found some 3 ringers and an eagle button. posted on the other forum I usually post on.
give me a buzz sometime if you want to get out again.
