My Alpha coil wire pulled completely out of the coil!

Does the alpha not have a tid Number display? I thought all the frat bros gave an id number. On the Omega everything between 1-40 is Iron, 40-50 is foil, 50-60 is pull tabs, 60-70 screwcaps, 70-80 zinc pennies, 80-90 dimes, 90+ quarters and silver. at least that is what the manual says they are supposed to be. Foil almost always is 50-52, nickels usually come in at 57, pull tabs vary from 55 all the way up to 65 with the most common being 60-62, zincs are almost always 78-79 although a few badly corroded ones come in lower. Dimes pop at 84-85, quarters 91-92 and screwcaps 94-99. I did try it out on a silver dollar that came in at 99 all the way out to the point it would no longer pick it up. My heavy 14k ring comes in at 67 so right between pull tab and zinc cent, the small one I dug came in at a 62 But to be fair it was residing an inch from a pull tab so it may have come in lower all by itself. Hopefully the bounty hunter coil will work fine for you, be carefull if you use zipties to leave enough slack for the head to rotate. I originally zip tied my wire to the stem then thought that might have caused the problem, so I ended up with a couple more velcro loops to hold the wire. If the bounty hunter coils will work on your detector Ive heard good things about the 4" nugget coil, about 34$ on amazon for working in trashy areas. I was going to buy one for the lone star before I bit the bullet and bought the omega.

I've come close to yanking out the cable from the coil, but caught it and stopped in time. Usually I leave it pretty slack and make sure there's enough play to fold the coil all the way over. Only had one connector plug fail, not bad for 11 years on our Time Rangers.

I've used velcro, electrical tape, garbage bag ties, even just looped the end through the cable run to hold it where I want. So long as it's not waving in the breeze, it should be ok. No need to strap it down tightly.

I'm clarifying again... boy, I need to go to sleep after I take my Ambien, and not begin posting on this forum. However, that is my relaxing time, so excuse my errors; "as I know not what I do". Anyhow, my wedding set is 5 grams of 14k gold (including diamonds), not .5 grams of gold including diamonds. You all must have thought, "Good Lord, her husband must have gotten that ring from a bubble gum dispenser, or a box of Cracker Jacks". lol! Sorry.

The Alpha does not display a target number like the other Greek series detectors, but it does display the category of the target, somewhat like the Garrett Ace 250.
The Delta's TID definition is just like what Caleb described for the Omega.

Here is how I try to prevent the kind of accident you had, pulling the wire out of the coil. I almost did it my self too.
I figured if I glue the wire to the coil, it will not break right at the coil, and I have a lot of spare cable to splice it together.

@abingo-- Great idea! What kind of glue is that? It appears that the cable wire blends or melds into the coil perfectly!

@caleb-- SEE! That is why I knew I needed to clarify! Now I am so glad I did. I so love my (5 gram) ring! It's "the" most beautiful ring-- for me. Even if it does register as FOIL on my detector! : )

@caleb-- In addition... You asked about the 4" bounty hunter gold nugget coil. When I was searching for a replacement coil for my Alpha, I had asked an eBay seller about that same exact coil you are referring to. He said; and I am quoting his reply, "Unfortunately, the manufacturer says that this Bounty Hunter 4" Coil does NOT fit the Teknetics because it has a different setup. He did say it will fit with anything else." ... Unquote. Now, I am not sure if he was referring to just the Teknetics Alpha, or ALL Teknetics though. However, the Alpha seemed to be like the "red headed step child" amongst the other more savvy and "mature" Teknetics though. Regardless, it was a smart "red headed stepchild" and I loved it nonetheless.
