Everyday on my way to work I keep seeing this brick house from the 1800's and today I am going by and I see someone outside, I stop and chat with him, and I obtain permission to detect it!

well right after he gives me the go-ahead, he tells me 2 guys were there just two weeks ago for 5 hours and walked away with several old coins. Man what a bummer. I looked around for about 90 minutes and got nothing but shallow 2-3 inch deep clad. whoever was there ignored the shallow targets. He said I was welcome to come back and try again, which I will when we get rain, the ground is so dry right now it is almost unbearable. We have not had rain in any real amount since june.

and the owner also mentioned the house was built in the 1860's

Iffin I were you I would go back and methodically do it all - digging about 90 % of the signals. Forget the readings, numbers, etc and dig. I have found so many coins that others missed it is amazing. Just this morning I dug a quarter at the bottom of the slide about 6 inches down. And almost nothing else around. No one gets it all and a house like that has to have some hidden coins /tokens. Good luck, Steve in so az

with the lack of rain we have had, I could not get any deeper than 4" it was like brown cement, we need rain bad!!!!

If at first you don't succeed try and try again! You have the permission and when it does rain enough to moisten the ground then you can go back and do some slow swinging and lots of digging! Don't worry about the others getting oldies, as you will assuredly come up with some sometime! Patience and having fun detecting are the key words......sooooo go to it when the ground is moist enough! :)

God Bless!

when the cherry pickers leave the shallow stuff, there are some deepies that they miss below the clad! :)
