Lol but here it is. 1/2 of a 6 lb Civil War Cannonball after some cleaning
 
thanks John guess it's just you and I that likes Civil War Cannonballs broke in half ... other side and still have a little more cleaning on it ... going back Friday to look for the other half. that would be an awesome find
 
Congratulations on a great and historic find. Any idea which size cannon actually fired that? Thanks for the picture.

6 lb cannon ... dia. matches it ... little over 3.5 inches
 
they were also called mountain cannons as they were the smallest and easier to get thru mountainous country ... a friend of mine has an original 1856 one he shoots at ceremonies

when Pete shoots his it's just 1/2 lb blackpowder and no projectile but oh man you can feel it all the way thru your body standing back a good ways ... couldn't imagine standing next to a whole line of them going off
