My biggest Rye-Patch nugget yet!!!:surprised:

Gus in idaho

New member
Went back down to Rye-Patch for another 3 day adventure last weekend.
We hunted some new ground, well new to us.
I started out in a nice looking little draw that was about 100 yards long. I did not start at the bottom of it, I crossed into it about 3/4 of the way up. Within 5 minutes I had a nice soft mellow target. 6" later and I was looking at a nice 1 grammer.
I continued up this draw picking up 2 more pieces before the draw ended.
I then walked back down to close to where I had started, and moved across the middle of the draw.
Then I heard it...
I knew it instantly, I had a whopper down there. I have been fortunate to dig a couple nuggets already this year that were over an ounce, and this one sounded just the same.
The big ones dont sound the same as the little ones do..
2 feet later I pulled out a 58.2 gram nugget. And it was solid with no quartz.
I hunted the surrounding area for 3 days, finding a total of 17 nuggets.

Total weight was 77.6 grams

Congratulations Gus,

I would love to pull one of those from the soil!!!

I'll be heading over to Victoria in a weeks time for a detecting show but I also hope to get out for a swing too. It has been about 6 months since I got out last and I am getting edgy!

Well done
Trevor

OMG!!!!
How in the heck did I miss that one?????
Great Balls of Fire!!!! That is one Major Accomplishment for Rye Patch. I have been hunting there since the mid/late 90's and my largest RP Nugget to date is 3/4 oz.

I have to take my hat off and give in to you now. I think I trained you Way to Well and am starting to think you may actually be hearing things that I don't??
You certainly earn the title as a "Nugget Master" of Rye Patch.
I'll have to get you on my web site for certain now.
Great Job and Thanks for sharing.

Gerry

Well done!!
Nuggets like that still lurking around tell me that the ground hasn't been that thrashed.
You'll be wanting to chuck in your day job..

I just got back from a couple of weeks out but didn't break any records.

Alan

Wow!!
That is one hell of a compliment Gerry!! Thank you.
Folks, I could not have done it without Gerry. He taught me the ropes.
His training is an absolute must for any beginner. He takes a group of beginners out to the gold country and Tells you the best setting for whatever machine you have chosen to fit your needs. And the group gets several targets, and everyone gets to hear them before they are dug.
He will plug in one on one with you, as you are sweeping across the ground. And shows you what to listen for.
Cant say enough good things about him. My father and I both owe our success to his training.
Thanks Gerry,
Gus-
