My Explorer XS Turns Itself On At Will...

Anyone else experience this?Have to take out the battery pack, otherwise it comes on. might be an hour ,might be a week.One time it came on at 3am and my wife thought some aliens broke in. thanks Joey

Push and hold the power button resets to factory.
Pulling the battery pack while the machine is on is rebooting.
This did need correcting. Sorry

and leave it aside. If it stops turning itself on, then check that the coil connections are not shorting.

If it still turns back on by itself then CHANGE the battery pack to the alkaline batteries.

If that does not work then leave ANY battery packs(power out) for a couple of days.

IF none of the above has worked then there is a possibility you need a new control panel button face or one of the 3 PCB's (circuit boards probably the power supply one) needs repair or replacing.

You may want to consider just leaving the battery pack out.

I know it's a pretty annoying occurrence.

Thanks for all the response guys. The factory reboot didnt work and its not the coil so, guess I will take the batteries out after every hunt.That gray ghost joke RULES and if it starts delivering coins at 3 am w/ my luck they will all be fertilizer-riddled stinkin lincolns. Best of luck Joey

Maybe your detector is possessed. Try smashing it and seeing if it repairs itself... if not then at least you know.. J/K =0)

DIGITRICH-----THAT WOULDN'T WORK AT ALL!!!!!----Some rotten thief would come along and steal Joeys unique and VERY VALUABLE XS. The creep would be sorry at 3 a.m. though! haaaaa. Come to think about it--you're idea does have merit----just make sure you drop it off in a VERY SECLUDED spot for those two hours. You could then go grocery shopping or whatever you choose to do!!
