My eyeball find....anyone ever see something like this before?

It is a US Quarter turned into a necklace piece. Either someone spent a LOT of time with a jeweler's saw (mini coping saw) to create this or maybe there is some process I don't know about they use at say carnivals and fairs to make an item like this.

Is this rare? Or is it just another carnival thing? Never seen one made out of a quarter before.

(Hey Mike in MI, if I could make a meeting guess this would be on the table for judging.)
 
I believe they can now do it with lasers. I have seen booths set up at different places where the make pendants, ear rings etc... A neat find Pete! :)
 
when I was teaching. Made a pair of ear rings out of Mercs and such. No laser - just the old jeweler's saw, steve in so az
