My F 75 LTD 2 Upgrade Arrived Today 11/20/14

Coin Rescue Inc

Well-known member
Ok my unit arrived today protected by a nice tan car board box.
Inside was a new colored F75 box that was like my older box but it has a new sticker displaying DTS, FA, 4 levels of iron tone and adjustable audio pitch in all metal and discrimination mode.
My upgraded unit is hardly recognizable.
New battery cover.
New arm cuff
New rubber hand hold
New face plate
New fisher decal on handle (mine was plating off some)
The rods and fastens look new
Coils seem the same due coil covers look new.

I could pass off my unit as a new machine.

Money well spent on a 2011 model.

I put in the old batteries they sent back in the box and the unit fired up for 5 seconds buzzed and died.
Oh oh. Mmm mm. Let's try new batteries.
Phew, WORKS FINE.
A 6 digit serial number pops up 2 digits at a time then turns on.
I do have a bit of EMI in the house but it is managable. I can pick up the Copper wires in the floor.

I notice the list of available tones has changed. So that may take some study.
I tried 9.1 shut the unit off and on and it stayed in 9.1.
In 9.1 the list of tones appears the same.
It is close to 9 pm and 20 degrees out so I think it is a good time to think up some tests to investigate the new features.
I brought a styrofoam board home to stick some nails and coins in for iron masking tests. Night.

After more testing I see I was wrong on the digits of serial numbers. There are actually 10. They flash 5 times in quantity of two.
At lunch time I stopped by a park I frequent and did a 1/2 hr test in an area I am familiar with.
The EMI noise I had indoors is gone in the natural environment of the part when I set up in 9.0 with a sensitivity of 80.
I dialed up to 99 without too much of an issue, but then dialed back to 80 to try the de process on my walk around a basketball court.
I popped a few junk items out of the ground with my screw driver. Nothing exciting this time around.
A bit strange walking around in an inch of snow and stabbing semi frozen ground. At least there are no curios strangers hanging around asking 50 questions.......
Tried FA, dE, BP along with the new tones.
Ran zero discrimination, 5, 23......
No notch, 50 notch with nickles notched in.
Everything Mechanically seems in good working condition so "Good Job!" to Fisher!

The first two of the two digit pairs on start up are, I believe, the month and year of manufacture.

The temperature got into the 40's today and we had intermittent rain. Most of the snow is gone.
I used the F 75 today with the 5" coil for about an hour and tested some coins in a small test garden - 100% success
I tested in a 1860 farm house basement that has a dirt floor that I have been searching in for a year now.
Tested the 1n Muted iron and FA to see how that works. I was able to locate a Clad Dime and a Copper memorial in the basement I missed before.
I then made a board up outside with a nail coin nail coin nail coin nail coin nail coin. to test different modes. Used 2 pennies nickel, dime and a quarter. the nails were Galv 4" long Finishing nails - Iron and zinc. Is that a mistake using zinc coated nails?
The 2F tones seem to be a feature on the new models and something I am not used to. I developed a liking for 4H. If I hear the high tone I look closer.
I guess I need to try the two tones a bit more.

I then placed each coin next to a nail to test masking - In most modes I could see the low value of the iron nail blended with the higher value of the coin to provide a medium range Value 40-55 - That is something one would not associate with a coin.

What worked really well with the coin and iron side by side was the 1n tone in FA mode. De wasn't so bad either.
The iron grunt was locked out but the higher ping for the coins came through very well. Each coin was about 5" apart. I think that is very impressive.
For me I think some of this testing will help me be more efficient on how to use this new tool in the field.

I think this mode alone is a tremendous bonus for our F75s. This reminds me of my G2 that I love dearly for iron hunts. I think Fisher has given us a great unmasking tool for the kind of hunting I do. I can't wait to wade into a nail bed of a long gone farm house and pull out the goodies.

I decided to send mine in, thank you very much for the info! I can't wait to get it back.

My serial number starts at 07/14...

1n is unique....not sure its strictly disced out iron in a conventional way or if its muted .......very sleuthy though...

One thing I really wanted on the F75 and T2 was the ability to break the tone in 2f by the disc setting...And still not 100% sure why they choose not to offer this at least when using 2f mode...

One thing I suggested was to have BOTH MODES available and im sure others did too.. and we got the 9.0 and 9.1.

And heres something else I now wonder....if you can get it as quite as it is why not have the ability crank the gain up even more....Should be doable...

I can say though with the ability to run the F75 in B.P. mode 99 sens the depth the unit reaches is quite the jaw dropper...

Ive dug some things that are low conductance at depths that are quite amazing...in low to medium mineral ((3 or less bars on the F.E. meter)) the machine will not miss much at great depths compared to other machines low or high conductor.. the B.P. mode is amazing when its able to run hot and stay quite

Took the F75 to a closed grain elevator thinking money exchanged hands in this area.
My first finds using FA and N1 at 99 sensitivity.

no idea how a token got there. We are no were near Sandusky Ohio.

Yesterday I did try 2F with zero and then 15 Discrimination after I cleaned up the coins and scanned the same area again. No issues there. I was getting the iron grunt on zero. Then moved it to 15 on discrimination and De.
I came across a 2 x 4 that was 3 ft long and had three 2D sinkers in it about 12" apart. I thought this was a perfect test so I scanned over them.
No sound at all.
Set the Discrim for 5 and got the grunt, grunt, grunt as fast as i could swing the coil over the nails.
I am liking what they did in the upgrade. If you pass over a coin you know it. I have to find some older parks before the freeze hits again. Yesterday it warmed up to the 50's and all the snow disappeared.
I did hit on some bouncy signals and could get the rimming grunt of it so that seems better on my upgrade.
I did a reset to 9.1 for a while and I was getting a bit more background noise at the standard 80 Descrim, The occasional pop and snap.
Before the upgrade I use to run on Bp most of the time but no higher than 60 on the sensitivity.
Now I need to learn more about all the settings once again with the higher sensitivity.

I would like to report that anytime you do a default reset, the default ground balance setting is 90.
That setting is way too high for me.
Make sure you adjust your ground balance any time you do the default reset.

Glad to hear you are liking the upgrade. I can't believe the price that would allow me to take my standard 75 all the way past ltd/se into the new Ltd 2 version. Really awesome of Fisher if you ask me.

Hope to hear more positive reports on how you and the upgraded 75 are getting along.

Warm enough today for a nice Hunt - Just overcast and a Chance of Rain.
I headed out to find a park to test the upgrade some more. I noticed when testing at home, a quarter with an Iron nail right next to it side by side, one no longer gets a 83-88 quarter ID but more jumpy # in the TAB area but High tone.
With that in mind I think I need to dig more lower numbers with High tone. Used 3H allot but also tested other tones. 0 - 15 and 23 Discrimination. no EMI issues hunted at 80 to 99 Sensativity- DE and FA
This time I took only the 11" coil.
All Summer I only used the 5".
I noticed the extra weight but the balance was good.
I had to cope a bit with digging some iron and aluminum bottle caps and a can slaw now and then.

Anyway I did pretty good for a 2-3 hour hunt.
A SS Watch Band
3 Pennies - one a 1944
one Kennedy 1974 Half Dollar
A couple of Clad Quarters
And one
A first for me....1897 Barber Quarter!!! It was in a hole with an old rusty bottle cap.

So far I am pretty happy with the F 75 Up grade.

Way to go on the 1897 Barber Quarter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I may be sending my F75SE in for an upgrade. I normally hunt in the boost mode with a lower sensitivity setting without any EMI issues. I still get good depth.

Have you tried all metal mode, if so is it quieter. I run all metal a lot and sent mine in to get upgraded. I have the original and am also looking forward to boost process.
