My factory programs are missing.

I bought a deus from a member of another forum. It is the 28-rc-ws4 v3.2. If appears to be missing factory programs. I see the topdecker and 2 park settings. Is there a site I can load the original factory settings? I have been using the topdecker program with a few mods.I have found silver that my ctx has missed. I am a little concerned that a detector I really am not skilled with found 3 silvers and 3 wheat's also 2 old bus tokens in the exact spots I hunted with my ctx. I made it a point to run down the sidewalk next to an old skating rink the same way I ran my ctx. Very disturbing I spent close to 3 grand with coils and it was smoked by the deus. I think when I learn this detector I will lean on it more then my minelabs.

The instructions for firmware updates are on page 27 of the manual if you have it from your purchase. Otherwise you can download the manual here: http://www.xpmetaldetectors.com/images/update_deus/User_manual_UK_V3.0_WEB.pdf

You can also follow along with this youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlrX-y4rRbk

Good luck!

Be sure to write down the settings of your saved (custom) programs that you like because those will be wiped out when you update the firmware.

Okay I updated and I still lost basic settings. I loaded 2.0 and the basic settings come back but no user slots. I tried to update again and lost the basic settings again.

Call XP (Detector Electronics Corp) at (800) 446-0244 and go over the details of your issue with them--not sure if you have a warranty with your machine, but they'll do their best to help you out. Good luck and keep us posted.

XP offers 5 years warranty on the Deus (although not sure, if there are regional differences).
I have once dealed with them from Germany and they have been very accomodating.

Definately give xp a call, they have been great with any problem i have had in the past. I wouldnt be disturbed with your findings between it and the ctx. I think what you will find as you use both machines is that you will find items in spots with the deus that you have hit with the ctx and vice versa. They are both great machines!

Thanks for all the info. I have to send it in for repair. The detector works fine just wont store the preset programs with the 3.2 update. The detector is the 3.2 version, The tech never heard of this issue. He said he will repair it or replace it. He thinks it is the coil because that is where everything is. Thanks again.

Any updates on this? I sold my personal Deus on ebay with 59 months warranty. Working perfectly normal with 10 presets and 2 custom programs. Ship to him fully charged and the programs are missing for him two? Support says he needs to talk to Moe? Now it sounds like he's accusing of sending it to him like this! Wow...

The 5 year warranty as far as I know, doesn't apply to all units. I believe there is a purchase cutoff date. From Xp's site:
5 Year Parts and Labor Warranty for detectors purchased on or after January 1, 2013. Units purchased prior to this date are covered by a 2 Year Parts and Labor Warranty. All warranty service is completed in the USA

Moe found a bad coil. The remote failed to show the programs until the coil was swapped out and programed in. Was repaired for free. My detector was less then a year old. Moe said it show all the programs and is functioning as it should. When it gets back Ill test it out and post back. The service was very no nonsense and quick.

Nice to hear. XP does have their customer relations down pretty well. Others should take note and do the same.

While this is true, I got a free of charge replacement of components of a part purchased well before the cutoff and after the two years were over (sent it in together with a newer faulty component after telling my issues with the initial product quality - which has much improved since - and they agreed to perform a free of charge replacement without me requesting this). Had only to cover the sending cost to France.

So from my experience I can say only good things about their customer service.

Best greetings from Germany
Olaf

I would think if you update the software on the internet it should load that for you but not sure?

Great post and comments.
