Not with a metal detector.....I was walking at my sisters house many years ago.Someone had thrown a bag of trash onto a vacant lot,and it had been spilled, torn open somehow.....In the middle of this what was presumed trash, was a nice little cast iron pot, about 5 inches in diameter, about 5 inches high, three legs, and a wire handle....I recognized it from some old treasure magazines:It was a lead melting pot,for melting lead for casting black powder bullets, for muzzleloading weapons. It was VERY rusty when I picked it up.I wire brushed the rust off inside and out,got me some RUST-OLEUM flat black paint, and to this day,I still have it....It sits in a windowsill in Marcias home as I write this, matter of fact......
